This is yet another thing that I know nothing about. It took very little handling for the inside part to fall out. Don't know if you can see it in the photos but it looks like it may have been glued at one point with yellow residue. Anything you can tell me about this would be appreciated! I call her Headband Girl. She is perhaps the most common of the mass produced cameos. She appears as a cameo, an intaglio, reverse intaglio, right facing, left facing, every color possible including AB, in glass & in plastic. Originally made in West Germany, so any piece using her as a component is post-WWII`

I don't see anything that looks like writing on it. And again, not as old as I thought!
So would this be called a cameo or a brootch?

Darn. Lost my draft when I left the message to reply to INH. Here goes again.

I call her Headband Girl. Quite possibly the most widely replicated of the mass produced cameos in man made materials. She appears as a cameo, intaglio, reverse intaglio, right facing, left facing, every color & color combo, including AB, in glass & in plastic.

She was originally produced in West Germany, so all jewellery with her as a component is post-WWII. As far as I can tell she is still being made. This one appears to be glass & assembled: the figure is a separate piece glued to the background. The bamboo look frame & decoration on the white layer make this one a bit different from most.

Second one I've looked at today with the pin running left to right. Suspect work has been done on the back.

It's a cameo brooch that also has a bail for wear as a pendant. Often described as a pin/pendant.

I suspect you are right Bronwen about it being glass. Thanks for the info!

With a magnifier I still am not seeing anything that looks like writing.

Looks like the type of thing one would buy in a dime store during the era.
