    JMHO, the roughness of it may be because it may not bold but a student piece. The bottom doesn't look professionally made.

    Unfortunately, you will find these being made for sale at places like Home Goods so it's hard to say how old yours is.

    Actually, it is easy to say it is not Home Goods. But how old, different story.
