Collapsing Table

Good evening all.

I'm looking for whatever information I can get on this table. I've passed by it multiple times at work, but finally took a good look at it. I'd especially like to know when it was likely produced and what it may have cost at that time. Google gave me some information, but narrowing it down is tough.

Interesting. Looks like someone adapted a 1920s-30s gateleg table to use a modern expansion mechanism.

I'd call it a drop leaf table so people know what you mean.

Our dining table has metal runners like this that it expands along. Someone obviously replaced older ones on yours.

 

Here is history of the B. Walter furniture maker and this table slide. It seems he, Bossler Walter was in partnership with a Thomas Hennessey who had patented a "table slide, the mechanism under a table that allows it to be pulled apart for the placement of additional leaves." Seems more than 1 million of these table slides were produced a year. The partnership stsrted in Wabash in 1887. After a few years Walter bought out Hennessey.
