It looks even more like DODGE now to me but the second letter down with that descent on the upper right is odd.
Anything could've been going on there including peeling paint.
Do we have no clue to even what state this is in?

I saw the second sign online.

The first I would carefully wipe off and seal both. Then replace the missing service door possibly with a scavenged section from a hidden area. It might even be stuffed inside there.
Rewire it and all new white neon for both with a neon dimmer switch added. The transformers could quite possibly still be good.

FWIW, I vote late 1930s to early 1940s at the latest. By the late 1940s skirt lengths were longer, She looks like a bobbysockers swooning to Frank Sinatra in the early 1940s.

Sorry my edited pics didn't answer the question on the sign. Like Baker, I could only find Tydol signs like this with "Flying" below Tydol. I did find a sign forum displaying Tydol signs with dates, but not this one. Gee, I forgot to bookmark that site.

Those cars parked on the right, especially the one parked facing out behind the car coming up the street, are interesting for like Baker observed appeared more modern with rounded tops, etc; however, to me none of the cars look post WWII.

Not certain, but the terrain seems to be Pennsylvania, as others have mentioned. I'm still researching online as I get time.

Welllll, just took another look at Aquitaine edited pic and now am in agreement with others that the sign does say "Dodge." From her pic, I can make out the last 3 letters as "DGE." With that sign deciphered and Tydol stations across the country, we aren't any closer to location other than a possible mill town in a hilly area. ;)

BTW, is the car at the gas station a 1928 or 1929 Ford Model A Coupe?

We should be able to get some useful info from the architecture of the building, was that design regional or maybe popular for a few years? Maybe there's a file on commercial architecture like that in HABS or some other source we can get to.
