So, a few weeks back I started a thread about a piece of furniture that was located in a house during a highly publicized murder and people's thought on the subject.

I didnt want to jinx so I didnt mention anything more...

Today we got the piece in.

Its the bed Abigail Folgers was using while staying in Sharon Tates home the night Charles Manson's followers broke in and murdered everyone.

Folgers was actually in the bed reading when they came down the hall, looked up and waved at them thinking they were some of Tates friends.
They later returned and held her at knife point, ordering her to the living room.

It's actually a very beautiful bed
I'm excited to see how it does at auction!

Gorgeous bed. I think it is a good thing no one was murdered in it. Would think the provenance enhances the value in this instance.

We have the original hand written bill of sale from the home owner Rudolph Altobelli. It will be sold with the bed.

Just heard on the radio news earlier this afternoon, Charles Manson is out of prison, (pause) in the hospital. (That's exactly the way the news caster said it!) Due to "prisoner privacy" rules, information regarding his condition and ailment are not being released.

I went into work about 3:30 to help receive the piece from the consignor.
My boss began unloading it and immediately cut his hand on it.
I was helping set it up and about to start cleaning and cut my hand on it as well.

On the way home tonight, about 10:30, one of my coworkers called and told me the news of Manson in the hospital.

    Nope ...Im good.
Its beautiful, and if I had some where other than my personal home to put it I would (if I were to afford such an object), but nope, not in my personal house.
    Too much weirdness already.

It is a lovely bed,but Id take a pass knowing its history. Im sure there was some negative energy absorbed into it during those poor peoples ordeal .And I dont care if yall call me Hippy Dippy! :)

~ hippie dippie or not, I couldn't agree more. It's a beautiful bed to be sure, but I wouldn't even want to be in the same room with it! No offense*

I'm sure there are collectors out there for this item.....the fact that it's still drawing blood after all this time leads me to believe that it's possessed !!:jawdrop::blackalien:

I read a detailed account of the murders years ago. It was one of the most horrible and gruesome things I've ever read. I can't imagine wanting that bed in the same house with me.

For those too young (or not a twinkle in their father's eye yet) to have remembered the Manson's murders in 1969, here is the story of Abigail Folgers, heiress to the Folger's Coffee Company:

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

The biggest positive I can add, which has already been said of course, is that it IS ONE GORGEOUS BED!!!!! As to owning it???? NOT for me!!!! Thinking negative Karma too!!! And Manson IS 83 y/o, so I don't think he'll be doing any sprints out of the hospital any time soon!!!! I'm just sayin'.............

The bed is just gorgeous and I don't think its history will hurt it much.

I too have read about that awful night and seen the crime scene photos, Its horrible what happened to those poor people.

It'll probably end up the same way as when I tried to sell a desktop memorial given to first responders to the OKC bombing, a piece a marble with a plaque, it has what appears to be blast Knicks on it, anyway, all I got back was negative saying I was trying to profit off of a tragedy. When I found it it was being used as a doorstop, yep, still have it.

    Interesting...

I think this piece is a bit different because it has value on its own merits. The bed is gorgeous and must have cost a small fortune new. Hard to say if the connection will help or hurt.

Seller will probably have people looking at it who wouldn't normally otherwise and at the same time people who would be interested in this type of furniture who are now turned off due to the history.

(Seagoat, please let us know how it does!)

So we've been talking about the story, posting it on social media, and its already made its reserve.

I gave my coworker the idea of contacting tmz since manson has been in the news lately. I was iffy because you don't know how they are going to spin it and what kind of reaction it was going to have.
They called him today and kept referring to it as the "Manson murder bed"
TMZ is going to run the story tomorrow on the show.
    I'm a little nervous :dead:
