I've seen some around that was pretty new, so my guess is yes.

 

Not so far as I can tell. It is all antique, or nearly, Egyptian Revival era. I have never seen a contemporary piece using real ones. Lots in faience, silver, & silver inlaid with lapis, but not the real deal. Like hair jewellery, not to everyone's taste.

I figured there had to be some exceptions. That one is a different sort of concoction than the vintage ones, which are far less imaginative.

 

By coincidence these popped up on an email from a saved seller. I'm not buying. Spectacular colour though.

 

A brooch made from a horse must be hard to pin on.
