Help Identifying WHAT KIND OF STONE Foo Dogs we have?

Hey guys we have these two foo dog sculptures. Bookends maybe? They look to be hand carved.

We are trying to figure out what kind of stone they are, also if anyone knows anything about the sticker tag on the bottom.

They appear to have a grey dust-like coat and when they get wet the stone is a dark green, but the stone absorbs the moisture quickly bringing it back to the grey color.

8.5" x 4.5" x 3.75"

Each weighs about 6 pounds.

I'd say soapstone.......

 

It's a really hard surface. It's not soft like soapstone

 

well the bubbles in it and all the little dings on the surface remind me of a soft talk stone......what can i say....that's just me !

Could these be cement or reconstituted stone?

 

The pair was bought at Chinese Arts & Crafts in Hong Kong for the equivalent of about US$20.
