A Chinese-influenced piece with European dolphins.(LOL) I wouldn't call it Deco. Goofy, yes, but not Deco.

 

Jewellery know-nothing here - a question though ..when the cabochon is described as Czech Peking glass, is it glass produced to imitate Chinese glass or is it actually Chinese?

 

It's glass produced to roughly imitate Chinese jade, without trying too hard to fool anyone.

 

It is a Bohemian/Czech imitation of the famous Chinese Peking jade glass that had been made in the Imperial Glassworks in Beijing/Peking for centuries.
Europe became interested in Peking glass in the late 19th century along with the interest in all things Oriental. So in the 1890s the Bohemians started to imitate it.
The term is generally used for mottled jade glass beads, but can also be used for the later Neiger style cabochons.
