    Hello everyone.
I am new to the group.
I am looking for any information about this child’s rocking chair.
Any information would help. There are no maker marks anywhere on the chair. It is 20” wide, 22” deep, and 33” tall. Thank you for your time. 239CD8B1-D53F-49C5-BA0D-C11F11723FFC.jpeg 07158C43-D08C-462E-9FE7-772BF80601E9.jpeg F3A16CDE-BA6D-4D73-ABE0-887EC0787535.jpeg 63F595BB-9782-4E18-97D9-792CE99DBEE8.jpeg

According to the SENG mark on the springs of your child's platform rocker, it was made by the Wendelin P Seng Co. of Chicago... there is a lengthy article about the company here: shorturl.at/dFN02. Seng was quite the inventor , registered a lot of patents particularly in innovative mechanical furniture. The wood could be ash or maple, c.1930s, colonial revival style with a wonky leg or two. That's my dubious guess, anyway.

    Post-war colonial revival maple.

    Thank you for your help.
I read the section about the sent company.
    Very interesting.

Are there any sites that I can go to, to get more information about the chair?
Age, value, and anything else about the chair.

You have probably found all you are going to find. There were hundreds of makers of similar chairs and, barring an ad or catalog page, you'll not find who made it. Doesn't matter much who made it anyway. Value is nil for such chairs in this condition. Not much higher once refurbished.

Sorry, @Darkwing Manor, I deleted my post as I wasn't sure of the "post-war" dating.....just didn't want to be too far off, as I "thought" it looked 40s-ish....

I'm assuming your interest is personal, since (as Brad mentioned), the chair is not too valuable. So, to begin, Google the marks, any patent numbers, etc. If none, enter search terms to describe the chair's form. From there it's a matter of sifting through sites and images to find similar items. For a price comparison, some lesser auction houses or eBay may have had similar pieces go through, but with the lower value, I doubt too many sellers will have gone to the trouble to include provenance in their descriptions. For maker's confirmation and perhaps model #, you might get lucky and find company catalog pages on-line somewhere. If you are truly intrepid and determined, you can make inquiries at libraries that hold trade catalog collections. Good luck, and remember, that's why they call it RE-search!

LOL! Very well could be, I'm better at 19th century stuff. I was going by the earlier patent dates for the Seng Co.

Patent dates are the earliest that something could have been manufactured. When it comes to furniture hardware, items can be used unchanged for decades if of good design.

Very true, but solid evidence for determining "No earlier than".. dates
