1900-O Morgan Dollar - Two raised lines on back

My guess would be die chip. Since the mark on the coin is raised not indented. If there was debris on the die the mark should have been an indent.

If it was an 1856 the value would be in the high range of $10k but an 1857 as a general rule doesn't command much of a premium.

 

Well I took it to a coin dealer I trust and was told that the improper polishing has pretty much ruined any value it had. He said that it looks like if it was circulated it was for a short time only. He also said the patina could be chemically restored and that would cost around $150 and make the coin worth about $150.
He also said it looked like there might be a die crack. But because of the polishing it pretty much negates that. No mention of clashing.

 

Ya, that was pretty much my call as well......sorry that your trusted dealer came to the same conclusion.....but hey...that's why you trust him !!
