I think it is an inkwell, Have never been able to identify it, any help appreciated, T hank you all

 

I searched Bennington Pottery Ink Well
and a match came up in Google images linked to TeraPeak.

I can't vouch for the attribution and description, but Bennington was the first thing I thought of and searched for, and found one.

Wait for other opinions.
