Are they gold buttons?

    Buttons come in many shapes and sizes. And I would bet they are buttons, the rims were crimped under so as not to snag on the fabric.

    I meant, I doubt that they are 'gold' buttons.... ;)

    Yes, no doubt not "gold", maybe aluminum or some other alloy.
