Featured Fancy vintage chair

Have had this old chair sitting in a bedroom for a long time. Got it from a grandmother who also kept it in a bedroom for many years. Just decorative I guess. No one ever sits in it. Kind of low anyway. Victorian in style maybe?

Thinking it wasn't made in the states. Looks hand carved, at least the added "floral" pieces are. Or whatever you call them. Any ideas on age and place of origin? Thanks for you comments in advance.

 

Likely low and wide for a lady.

Agree that it doesn't look American. Guessing French, walnut frame, ca. 1860-70, slipper chair, so-called because of the high back.

Are the castors likely a later addition?

 

No, castors were the norm at that time.

 

Oh, the fun a child could have!.

 

Seeing a pattern here. Think my grandmother was into french furniture. Think a few other pieces I own are french as well. Will post another time just to make sure. Thank you guys.
