    Is it like a medieval reenactment piece or something?

    Costume, anyway. I'd say theater rather than skating; I don't think the wearer could move his arms around well enough to skate in that.

    That is very interesting! If I found an old photo of somebody wearing that, I might buy it. (If it was from the early 20th century or earlier, that is.) Too bad about the deterioration.
