Identify the mystery - Clear Glass Container with Cap

Got this piece from a friend. It seems very unique - can't seem to find anything like it. Your expertise would be appreciated.
Dimensions 2.5" x 2.5" x 2.5" + the lip

Ink bottle?

 

It certainly does look like an inkwell. A woman's writing accessory and not terribly old.

I wonder if it might be perfume related or Lalique ink related if the seller is correct in the listing I found. This bottle seems to be a similar style with a different stopper that they say is marked Lalique. Of course even if marked that way might not mean it's Lalique.

Any mark on the bottom?

I found a site with Lalique bottles and found what looks like a similar perfume though not sure about the size or lid.

Lalique Perfume Bottle - Wow - this is it! Upon closer inspection there is an inspiration in one corner on the bottom - which I can't make out. The stopper is missing that is why the cap fits very loosely. Thanks for your help!

 

The bottle also has LALIQUE D'ORSAY embossed on the neck!
