Sorry everyone, but I accidentally posted this before I was done with the text.

I found a belt buckle at an estate sale today (last photo).

My teenage son loves Western wear, so I called him over, and he got it for himself. I gently cleaned it and it looks good.

it is from Comstock Silversmiths, marked German Silver. The design is of the Death Valley Trail Ride from 1975. I’ve found other Comstock belt buckles, but this Worthpoint listing is pretty close. Does anyone have an account to see what it sold for?

The dark image of the photo is a reflection of my taking the photo with my iPad.

It sold for 41.52 in 2011. There's one that sold for $25 in 2019.

Thanks. I appreciate it. He’s going off to college and doesn’t want to take anything too expensive with him.

He does too. He’s been finding some decent ones online, but jumped at the chance to go to a real live estate sale. I went to the sale first, called him, waited until he got there, and left. He’s a good negotiator, and has a good eye for vintage, and I don’t think he needs Mom looking over his shoulder.

“German silver” is the same as alpaca, silver colored metal, but not precious silver.

Thanks. I noticed there wasn’t a hallmark, and it wasn’t tarnished. I wasn’t familiar with the term “German silver,” though.

I learn something from this group every day!

U.S.made objects do not have hallmarks, trademarks and metal content for precious metals.
