Top one looks Italian, or maybe Chalet.

China makes glass that looks like the top piece.

You need to show the base of the pieces. How a piece is finished can help with determining who might or might not have made it

The Cranberry is not Fenton. The polished pontil isn't Fenton's work.

    Earlier than Fenton.
    Late 1800s.

Man so this could be a rare piece or are you thinking a Chinese make on these two pieces being the polished pontils?

I'm going to go out on a limb here. Bear in mind that this is just my humble opinion based on a lot of glass that has passed through my hands over the years.

The Cranberry Ruffled vase..... I agree that the Polished pontil would most likely rule out Chinese and Fenton. I also agree that is probably a late 1800's piece.
Rare or not, the sad part is, that a lot of inexperienced glass sellers on eBay automatically list anything with ruffles as FENTON. This has really watered down the market for the earlier nice pieces of Cranberry like yours. If you do an eBay search for "Ruffled Cranberry vase" You will see many similar to yours, Some correctly ID'D as Fenton and others ID'D as Fenton which are not. Then look at the sold listings.
Some argue that the color isn't really CRANBERRY, but this is where most anything in this color range is dumped.
Sadly, I can't ID the maker for you, but I do believe it to be a nice quality older piece. Just not worth what it should be. I would have bought it, based on quality and "Prettyness" alone.
If you (or we on the board) could come up with a solid ID, I'm sure you could get a much better price for it.

    Very nice explanation.

Charles, if you take your piece out in the sunlight, your photo may pick up the gold tones.
Also, am I seeing round circles (coin dot) in with the swirl?

I meant to relate a story about a bunch of Cranberry glass I bought at a Flea Market. I bought about 21 pieces, mostly water goblets and sherberts, nicely made but very plain with no real pattern. I got them dirt cheap ( like $10 for all of it). Found several like them listed on eBay, just listed as Cranberry, no makers attribution. They were selling for an amount I could make a little profit on, but not enough to make me want to do all the work involved. So I sat on them awhile......Lo and behold a couple months later I was doing some research, and stumbled upon an id for my cranberry . I think it was (Poringer? Anyway a German maker, I can't remember now). When I listed them with the ID,,, , they sold quickly at about $25 each for the water glasses. The ID made all the difference.

Had the piece out at a flea market tbis weekend and it was picked up for $30. Person said it was Fenton. I disagreed with them but they bought anyway. I paid $2 for it.
