Help Identify

12"L 10"H 4½"W
Material is thin almost paper like. This case was handed down to me through family. Looking for when it was made and what it was used for. Thanks for your help!

I think this is a larger case from what could be the same set. It makes me wonder if the small size of yours was for toiletries or something.

I didn't read INS' link about the history, so pardon me if I'm repeating or wrong.

I think what you have is a cardboard suitcase from the 1930s, maybe early 40s.
Your piece would have been the overnight case or for toiletries.
As shown by SIS they came in varying sizes.

A fairly common piece as it was affordable. Since they are made of cardboard, they aren't always in the best of shape.
