Is the stone in this ring a saphiret?

Or something else? It has scratches on the top. I took lots of pics because it's so hard to capture the coloring, as it changes with every turn, and different lighting. Thanks for your time.
It is marked 925 on the other side (not shown). Can't make heads or tails of this other mark, and I have shown it in both directions.
I remember seeing a thread by Lucille.B. about saphiret a while back, and it peaked my interest, so wondering if this is it, or not.:)

I don't think it is a saphiret, but good question. The stones in one I sold went from brownish (almost mauve or milk-in-coffee brown) to blue, and the change was pretty subtle, sometimes showing a bit of brown and blue simultaneously. The blue in this ring is a tiny, tiny bit similar but not seeing brown. Does it ever look brownish?

Yours might have an Aurora Borealis coating possibly, but with some kind of stone that could be identified underneath. I'm not good at identifying stones, so hold tight and wait for others.

I don't think saphiret either - that thing is refracting far too much. Some kind of lab stone/CZ with an AB coating.

    I've seen that mark. Bother.

You gals are fabulous! Thanks so much LucilleB & Bear. :):)
I wondered if there might be some kind of coating too. It just seemed strange when I turn the ring to the side, I couldn't really see the colors, it looked more clear when viewed that way. So, the coating will just wear off over time I guess, like with the scratches it has...Oh well, I have been wearing this for the last 2 days, and have gotten rather attached to it, so I'll probably just keep it. This morning in the foggy bathroom, it was shining so bright in the reflection of the fogged up mirror, it was really neat.
So now I must keep searching for a saphiret!

It really does look like it! I was able to find many of the same shape/cut too. Do they look somewhat clear when viewed from the side? I can't see any side views on the others I found.
    Thanks Hollyblue

The originals were coated on the bottom of the stones, later other manufacturers coated just the tops.

Aha. That sounds right. I'd forgotten that one.

I keep thinking that the mark is one of those shopping channels but my brain may be on the wrong track.

I third the Mystic Topaz assessment. I have a M.T. ring, handmade with sterling and the stone has the same exact coloring as yours. The colors are in the stone itself, not a coating like on AB crystals. Someone told me not long ago that mystic topaz is a fancy modern name for another existing stone, but old brain can't remember what right now :-(
    Very pretty!

The colors are not inside Mystic topaz...it is real topaz with a vaporized metallic oxide applied while inside a vacuum chamber at high temperatures.
