Any info on Boar's tooth(?) key ring w/thai(?) lion head cap?

I got this at a garage sale last week - along with a beautiful painting by a well known Cuban artist. The seller told me it was a boar's tooth & very old?
Some questions:
Is it a boar tooth? (it measures 3 1/3" long (just the tooth/bone not including the cap); too short for a tusk, right?)
Is it a real anything & not just a copy?
The cap or piece on top of it - is that from Thailand? Hindu?
Is it as old as it looks?
I'm hoping it's real - and old - because the home I got it from had a lot of nice pieces; like the Cuban painting + a large collection of oriental figures, jade pieces, etc.. which gives me hope this is more likely real instead of a copy.
PS - could the top piece be silver?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Boars tusk yes - but very common - don't ask a Texan farmer about a herd of boars ,

 

Chinese with Canton style enamel. Not silver. Pretty recent but made to look older.
