I haven't time to do much with these now, but they're both commemorative souvenirs, from 1977 and 1985, respectively.

You can pretty easily see for yourself. One's dated Showa 52 Year 9 Month (September, 1977) and the other's dated Showa 60 Year 7 Month 25 Day (July 25, 1985). That date's molded into the piece, no less.

the top of the vase was very solid copper as i thought. was very heavy. and the deterioration of the metal. Then again should have thought more. By the way are there any significant traces that is not old at Komokwa?

even knowing nothing but what I pick up here.....that much script on the base in a modern style of curvature is like nothing i've ever seen on an older item...

@komokwa. really what is the significance of the curvature of older items.

As I wrote in your earlier thread about these bronzes:

"recent Chinese Shang style bronzes made to look old. Shang was an early Chinese dynasty ca. 1600 to 1046 BC. Their designs have been an inspiration for later styles."

"These bronzes were probably commissioned by the grateful Chinese patient."

They are just a few days older now:D.

No date there, just inscribed as a gift. Fair to say this doesn't date to antiquity, though.
