Would this be called a melon vase or melon spiral optic? 11" tall. It has the #8 on the bottom. I thought that represented the year 2008 but I did not see it in the Fenton catalogs on the Fenton website. Thank you.[IMG] [IMG]

The 8 would refer to the decade so it would be the 1980's. It's unusual in that's it's a melon vase with a spiral. I'll see if I can find out what Fenton called it.

Thank you Don! I once knew that # stood for the decade, see what sleep deprivation can do. :wacky: I'm off to look at the "80's".

No need! I actually found it in the Fenton line for 1994. It's #3161 CC 11" spiral vase. The CC stood for Country Cranberry. This was a popular shape for Fenton and you can find it in a variety of treatments over the years. Cranberry ran from the 1980's through the 1990's so the 1994 vase I found does not mean the 8 on your vase is incorrect.

My experience with cranberry has been that there was far more produced then there is a market for. And not just by Fenton. If you find somebody collecting Pilgrim cranberry send them my way. I'll make them a great deal!

Thanks again Don. I just found one on the back cover of the 1982 Christmas Catalog with the same #, so it seems it was in production for several years. See what you can find with the correct dates! I really appreciate the help.

If I sell this piece, I will definitely ask if they want to see more & send them your way.

Wow! I would be one happy seller! Unless the free postage comes back to bite me!

I live on the east coast & sending this by USPS ground to west coast would be about $23.

Yes, I'm in Indiana and that's usually how it works for me. Almost impossible to send any item to West Coast for less unless it's really tiny. I do use free shipping as a clearance device. I think there are buyers on the West Coast who wait for free shipping. Seems those items always go there, Southern Border States, or Florida which are almost as bad. Not that I blame them of course Who wants to pay $23 for an item they bought for $20? Shipping charges are the one piece of the eBay puzzle I have yet to figure out.

So if I sell my vase for $63 and subtract $23 postage and the ebay and paypal fees ($6.30 final value fee plus another dollar or two for listing and paypal fees) and let's say I paid $15 for the vase. Maybe there's a little profit in there.

The box that I would need turned out to be slightly larger than I calculated so the shipping would actually be $24.50. I would still have a profit after fees so I may consider doing it.

Ebay denies rolling blackouts and only showing listings in certain geographical areas, however, I don't believe it. The majority of my sales are out west and always seem clustered together. I will have no sales at all and then a flurry in one area. If ebay is going to do this, I wish they would consider geographical location because of the high shipping costs. I can send this same package to someone here in New England for $11. People located in the center of the country probably get the best rates to both coasts. Lucky devils.

Speaking of USPS - when did they change the website? I don't like the new calculator. I preferred the old list with all options on the same page.
