I'm wondering if I'm right about dating this little pitcher. Its my favorite of my purchases this weekend, its such a gorgeous color. The artist is a French potter who worked from the 30s to the 80s, Alphonse Mouton. It has his mark 'Alpho', also has 4 or 40 stamped under his name, and also has the number 35(0?) written on the base. Am I correct in thinking 40 is the year? Also had a name written on the side of the vase, I'm 90% sure it is not original, as I found several other similar pieces with local village names that were not Alpho. Its roughly 3 inches tall. Would also love any other details about the vase since my eye is so untrained. Thanks!

I know I'm all over the forums, and probably getting rather annoying at this point, I do apologise. :p

It is lovely, but can't help, sorry.
Never.:) It isn't that much, and we only get annoyed if people misbehave.:D

They do indeed! My first buy was an 1848 family bible that I was able to piece their whole genealogy from! Fascinating stuff.

I've been reading up on all of the topics, hoping to glean a little from it.

Forty would not be a date but a mold number. The pencil 35 could be a price from who knows when.

Ah drat, no clue as to dating it then. Similar style pieces I've seen advertised as 30s art deco vases but I don't know enough to be certain. Thank you!
