These came as an "extra" with something I purchased a while back, and if I recall correctly, the seller said that they were victorian ear clips.

I can't find anything similar though be it victorian or not.

Anyone know what these are and what time they'd be from?

Dress clips or fur clips, not earrings. That would be an ouch

    Thanks Bev & moreotherstuff!

I actually tried them Bev, and they were quite comfortable (though I'm sure they look like they wouldn't be with that spring!). Even though they felt okay, I had a feeling they weren't really earrings.

    Thanks again!

Dress clips - fur clips would HURT; they have a double-spiked pinback that was meant to pierce its way into the fur. Most dress clips have grabby things inside like a shoe clip. They go back to the 1930s, when everyone had to have several pair of these.

Dress clips they are, but hey, if they Can be worn without major pain, they's make great earrings!

I'm having a hard time with that curve on the back being practical for dress clips - believe those are 1940s-50s clip earrings, seem to remember having a pair by Trifari or one of the other big companies with very similar clips...

    Hi Cheryl,
Shame having thick ear lobes. I always brag that I am still able to fit into the earrings from my high school graduation.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

If they have teeth on the inside they are dress clips, if not they are earrings. Either way, they are sweet :)

    No teeth inside.

I was just thinking today that they seem a little too slippery for dress clips since they have no real "grab" to them.

    So earrings it is.

By the by, I have an Alfred Philippe rhinestone clipmate type brooch starting tonight; maybe the same person will snatch both up. :)
