I found this in a box lot of random jewelry on Saturday. It has a somewhat legible 585 mark on the tongue of the clasp, but it's from one of those countries where you want to whap the goldsmiths upside the head. The marks are BITTY; I took the picture under a 40x loupe and they're still not that legible. Best I can do though.

I think you did an excellent job with the photos considering you do not have specialized equipment. Is that a tughra mark? Someone will be along who can say. Great find!

I don't think so. For $10 the box it was probably a good deal.(LOL)

Great job on getting a decent job on the marks, @evelyb30....my program did no better.....just bigger, but NO better!!!! The two in the middle look like K - K, only backwards........no idea what the first one is!!!

In my experience multiple marks are not always all stamped the same way up. Maybe it is K-K.

I've never seen a safety clasp like that.

It's got a piece broken off that flipped up somehow. I got the KK part but not the rest; it's probably a maker's mark.

In the last photo, the knob on top of the female end of the clasp & the hinged loop on the male end.

The fact that a piece is broken off probably explains why it was in the box it was found in.

    Love the bracelet, evelyb.
This could be all wrong, but I wonder if it is meant to be an Estonian mark, with not all marks stamped the same way up, like Bronwen said? The lion passant could be upside down too.
    (Shaky hands pic :sorry:)

I think the left hallmark is a bird on a twig/branch

That's a good possibility. The marks are on there any which way up.

I was referring to Any's Estonian guess, but the bird looks possible too. No idea whose mark that would be.
