old old looking framed tapestry piece info

    hi guys

    thought id share with you this piece i came across today

    i wont say how much they were asking, but lets say less than 100 and a tiny bit more than 79.99:)

    anyone got any ideas about possible dates, or where it might have come from

    is the question marked date believable

    nice walnut ?frame but modern

    pics arent brilliant as we got talking about black americana and i wasnt paying attention

    any thoughts appreciated

    i would say about 8 by 6 inches max (didnt buy it)

    I found a lovely 1970s Japanese Seiko watch today for £2 cause it was set in a cheap cotton strap

    I showed it to my mate who's a bit of a drunk and he dropped it and smashed all the glass front

    Such as life :)

    Yeah he did actually bless him

    He said it must have been like that before (after clearly dropping it and hearing a obvious clunk)

    I have a couple of nice Seikos off eBay, not quite so cheap as yours, but for very good prices because they were too small for most adult wrists.

    Perfect for the ladies of today who prefer a bigger watch then.

    I'm doing the exact opposite

    I'm going smaller, just to even it out a bit :)

    Old thread, I know - this is a very old (16th or 17thC) ecclesiastical embroidery, off a vestment or hanging. Continental, I think.

    To add the only sensible comment I can make, the central figure is carrying a palm frond, symbol of a martyr.
