Hello all, this is my first post here and I am seeking some help if at all possible. I found this picture while at a yard sale and it caught my eye. It seemed fairly old and was in a horrible frame. I took it out of the frame and seen it was hand signed in pencil by Arent Christensen and their are some other inscriptions that I cant make out or translate.
I tried to research this artist and their isn't to many works I can find of his. If possible can someone translate this for me and let me know if any of you all have ever heard of this gentleman. I dont knowing it is that rare but I like it.
I would like to thank everyone in advance for the help! 20200619_191915_compress3.jpg 20200619_191923_compress96.jpg 20200619_191859_compress89.jpg 20200619_191938_compress98.jpg 20200619_191942_compress1.jpg

There are tons of examples of his work, but I didnt see too many sold prices. I did notice most were asking $ 2-3-400 . The market for this sort of thing hit rock bottom a few years ago and unless its a known name, like Thomas Hart Benton, they dont bring much. Its very pretty.

Romsdalen is a valley in Norway. The handwriting appears to be a dedication to a Mr. Georg Brückner. You can run text through Google Translate (translate.google.com) for a translation.

Are you sure the frame was "horrible?" Or did you just not like it?

It was a cheap gold colored plastic frame that was very modern and barely holding together

The name Georg brochner, comes up as a Danish art critic that wrote for a magazine who died in the 30s, could this possibly be done for him personally? I didn't notice an edition number or print run on it and I cant make out the next to last word to translate

You might want to contact the Annex Galleries. They acquired the Brochner portfolios and might be interested to learn of your piece. They might be interested in acquiring.

Yes, it is Georg Brøchner, alternative spelling Bröchner. He was also a well known art collector.

Brückner is a German name, not entirely impossible, but pretty rare in Denmark or Norway.;)

Well after emailing the Annex galleries they responded to my email. They said that the print was titled, from romsdalen to mr georg brochner with my pleasure. He also said he was certain that it was in the personal collection of mr.brochner. He said that it had a couple of condition issues but it is around one hundred years old. He didn't offer any advice about value but I didn't ask either.
It is a cool piece and it makes me wonder how it made its way from Norway to good ol' Kentucky. I would like to thank all of you for your help.
