After speaking with my mother, we have decided to preserve this collection. I was thinking individual Ziploc bags?

    No.
    They aren't inert.
    Get something archival for them.

You need something acid free (not ziploc bags), go to a large antique mall, comic book store or order the plastic sleeves made for books and papers (their pretty cheap). Here's some on Amazon (they are for comic books but they should work):

I have a box full of items I have found in books but I've never found money. Yesterday I found a Personal finance loan business card with a calendar on the back from 1948.:)

    Hi,
My favorite thing found in a book was an invitation to the opening of the Brooklyn Bridge.

U.S. publishers didn't recognize international copyrights until 1891 and just printed whatever they wanted, if it wasn't by a U.S. author, up until then.

There are all kinds of archival materials that you can use. Zip lock bags will kill them faster than anything else I can think of. It traps moisture. I got some archival book boxes online and they weren't all that expensive.
