Hello,

This was recently passed down to me from my grandparents, I would like to see if anyone knows anything about it?

 

they say if you rub his belly , it'll bring you good fortune...

 

That is one perky nippled Buddha!

 

This one says reproduction. Pose and beads seem much like yours, but colors and nice facial details are lacking compared to yours.

I rather like the red color yours is in. I don't see any others in that color combo.

He is probably depicting the "Laughing Buddha," AKA Hotei, Pu-tai and Maitreya. He is holding a burlap type bag in his left hand. He is recognized in China, Japan, Korea, etc...

"His name means 'Cloth Sack', and comes from the bag that he is conventionally depicted as carrying."

I can't make-out the mark enough to guess if this one was made in China, Japan, Korea or if the mark is right side up.

This version of Buddha, Hotei, is depicted as Jolly, Laughing and Happy.
Numerous Monasteries, around Honolulu, are dedicated to the Jolly Buddha. Temple visitors, seeking good luck, leave offerings of fine fruit.
