Studio pottery? Candle holder? Need help signature

    benbenny007 I buy rubbish, and sell antiques

    Thought first it was a vase on first sight but closer inspection makes me believe it's a candle holder? Fairly big piece if its a candle holder. Got some age to at and the base was covered. Removed the green cloth and it has a signature. Can make not much out of it. Does it read Ydpamaex? Anybody an idea or knows this style? Thank you

    I see "ΥΔΡΑ" = Hydra, a Greek island.

    Probably student or amateur pottery, since it displays no indication of skill at throwing, trimming, or glazing. Not exactly something a professional studio potter would want to be connected with. That "beaded" effect of the glaze is a result of either serious over-firing, or using the wrong glaze formula for the clay body.

    Could it say "YDPA Mall"? Maybe something produced at one of those "do-it-yourself" pottery shops popular a few years ago.
