Any info (age, etc..) on vintage oriental(?) display cases that lay flat

I found these at a local thrift store yesterday (they had 5 but I only bought 4 because I couldn't get 1 to open). I believe this is a display case right?
They are long (33.5" x 18" x 3") and opening one...well you better have a high ceiling! and they have a beautiful carved design along the sides that is really well done & a crushed red velour interior- do you think these are actual vintage cases from China or Japan or just made to look like it?
Any idea of age? - I think they are older because of the slot screws used on locks & hinges. BUT the locks may have been changed (which would make the cases older, right?) because 2 I have, have had a hole drilled into the metal tab so the lock's bar can go into it & keep the door closed, while 2 have not had the hole drilled yet (as in the one in photos below - see pics of lock).
There are no keys so I (or whoever buys one) will have to replace the lock again or can a key be made for it - it seems like a simple lock? Now to open the ones with the hole for the bolt I have to pull the lock's knob (where key goes) out with pliers; I just have to push it in with my finger to lock it.

Any info or thoughts would be appreciated - I'm thinking I should have grabbed the last 2 also because these should be a easy sell to any dealer who wants to show off their good things & keep them protected too (I am going to keep 1 myself to use at the next Miami Beach Collectible & antique show!) & they are eye catching.
I'm really hoping they are they as old as I think (mid century or so)?

PS - googling oriental display case only shows upright ones - is there a different name for ones that lay flat on a table?

Looks like a Greek Key variation to me.

Any idea as to it's age with that lock? Or the screws? Can I say it's a mid century (or earlier) oriental design table top display case with carved Greek key design around border?

 

Are you sure it's not made with picture frame molding?

 

Is the red lining really a thick velvet/velour type material? It looks more like flocked wallpaper to me, but pictures can be deceiving.

 

Yes, what is it? Looks like brocade or brocade-wannabe to me.

If I had to guess, I'd put these at 1960s or 1970s. I don't think older, but just going from photos. The fabric might or might not be original to the cases, but certainly would work well if you were going to use at an antiques/collectibles show. Probably someone had a collection that they were displaying, or planning to display. I think these would be fun and eye catching at a show because they have a little bit of a vintage look and doubtful anyone else would have similar.
