Good morning antiquers. Does anyone know what this old fellow I found in a property I just bought might be? Thank you.
Its an Edwardian bureau. 20 years ago I used to get £200-£250 for these. Now with brown furniture being out of favour I`m lucky to pull a tenner.
Slant top desk? For me to even guess at a date, I need to see the the legs, pics of the back and pics of the sides of a drawer. --- Susan
Davey's right about the prices. Around here the local ReStore would put $250 on it and mark it down twice before it sold at around $75.
Rather than adding another thing to the landfill, you could donate it to a local thrift shop so they could make a few dollars on it or even put it out to the curb & let someone else deal with it. I guarantee you if I put this piece out by my curb right now it would be snapped up within the hour.
Thanks bercrystal. Charity shops don't want old furniture and the local council would fine me £5000 for fly tipping if I left it on the street.

I can understand why you would choose the dump then. Just curious, can folks take stuff out the "dump area"?
If you are in the UK, PLEASE put that thing on either Freecycle or Freegle. I guarantee it will get snapped up. The other people who will take it and will collect it are the BHF Furniture shops. You could also try the Emmaus Trust.
Or you could try Craigslist, they also have a free section Also, at our transfer station, there is an area for usable furniture. All kinds of furniture comes and goes from there. Do you have anything like that there?
