A FRIEND ASKED ME FOR HELP w/PAINTING's SIGNATURE

A friend who hunts the thrift stores with me bought a painting at an estate sale in Palm Beach & has asked me if I could find out the artist's name (I've told him about the answers I've gotten here when we were stumped!)
To me it looks like a middle eastern signature, but he doesn't think so - I think, he thinks since it came from a nice home in Palm Beach it has to be something special.
Can anyone make out the name on this painting for me (and my friend)?
I appreciate any help.

 

I'm sorry I have no idea on the sig but it looks like one of those street scene paintings, Paris etc. to me. Maybe Rome? Any info on the back?

Agree, Venice. Where the Piazza San Marco, on the left, meets the waterfront of the Canal Grande, on the right. The Doge's palace is the second building on the left.
The signature is in Latin script, it is just one of those artist's signatures that we all have sleepless nights over.
This is a detail from roughly the same angle:


Venice traded with the Eastern Mediterranean, something you can see in some of it's architecture.

You guys are GOOD, no, GREAT!!!!!, if you can pull THAT out of that painting!!!!!!!! I do see a scene, but it's hinting at a scene, JMHO!!!!!!
AND I do like it, just the same!!!!!
