Can you help me identify this Wedgwood & Co?

    Hello all,

I have a collection of Wedgwood & Co that I need advice on.

I live in Belgium. My family built and used his set extensively in the late 19th and early 20th Century. They were a brewers family in Antwerp. A link to some pictures is here.

All items appear to be the River scene series and carry a blue stamp WEDGWOOD & CO THAMES ENGLAND. Not all items are marked, but those that are, carry two series: either IVORY plus a number or IVORY WEDGWOOD & CO LTD and sometimes a number.

Am I correct in assuming that the marks point to production before 1900 and between 1900 and 1905?

What advice can you give me on selling the set?

    Many thanks,

    Stijn

My davice on selling the set would be to sell it piece by piece. As a whole set, shipping would be a nightmare! There are many more people looking to replace broken pieces from their sets then looking to buy a complete set.
You might list them as.... Dinner Plate for X.XX with 10 available.
The tureens are nice~ . Remember to check closely for chips and damage which severely effects value.

Before selling, have you asked others in your family if they have an interest? Grandkids, Cousins?

As bdigger said, if selling on line, you will get more if you sell piece by piece or in small groups.
A place setting, two dinner plates, etc.
Serving pieces are hard to come by and are usually the most expensive. List those individually.

According to the following website Wedgwood & Co. added "Ld" to their marks in 1900. As the mark on your dishes doesn't have "Ld," I suspect they date between 1890 (when England was added to marks) and 1900.

Scroll down to the 4th mark that says "Note the absence of "Ld" (standing for "Limited Company" - which was added from 1900."

The pattern name is "Thames." Here is an auction for a creamer/jug in this pattern:

I sold my aunt's entire set of Moss Rose china - at least as many pieces as this - to a buyer in Chile. It shipped in five boxes and the buyer was delightful to work with. I wouldn't discount offering it as a set first and see what happens.
