I am hoping someone may be able to help identify the artist and locale/school of art where and when this box may have been created. According to my research there are several. The box is signed, hopefully with name and 'school'. Any Russian speakers/translators here??? It is a beautiful little piece; measures 3" x 2 3/4" x 1 1/4". Also, any ideas as to what the scene depicts (a fairy tale maybe)? Thanks for looking and your thoughts!!! IMG_3117[2].jpg IMG_3121[1].JPG IMG_3122[1].JPG IMG_3124[1].jpg

The fairytale themed boxes are usually from Palekh, a village a few 100k northeast of Moscow.
The story could be of folk hero Ivan Tsarevitch:
"Ivan Tsarevich married a warrior princess, Maria Morevna, who was kidnapped by the immortal being called Koschei the Deathless. In this tale, the animal helpers were a lion, a bird and a magical horse that belonged to baba Yaga. It was on this horse that Ivan defeated Koschei."

Thank you AJ; I have seen a couple of other boxes with a man carrying a woman on a flying horse. Thanks for the lead!

Thanks Komokwa, that serves to confirm it's origin! I put 'palekh' through a Russian translator and that does look to be it.
