Little Bisque Bear covered with crystals _ Made in Japan

    I am wondering if this little bear was a "Made in Japan" from before the war. The face is hand painted and the body is covered by these little clear crystals, maybe crushed quartz?     Wonder if there was a line of these figures, similar to/based on the popular Snow Babies. It really does look like sugar, but if you decide to taste, be careful. Could be crystals grown from something chemically different altogether & quite possibly not good for you.

    In hand, snow babies are unlike OP's bear. I must admit I don't think I've ever come across one.

    Snow babies are German and of very nice quality.
