Roman/celtic expert needed

Hello!

I have two items i cannot 100% recognize but i think one is deformed (there are a sign of deformation) roman/celtic fibula and other could be roman/celtic period, second thing, i know it is not likely but it may look like celtic ring money. Found in european southern alps area. I hope some expert could recognize these things.

That would be helpful, is that a remnant of the pin I see on the right?

Did you find just these two together somewhere? Or were there other items too? Is there knowledge of a settlement in the area?

 

Less than 1km away there was a known settlement (roman/celtic). Both found in a same area. No other conected finds,just these two looks older

@Gamo Can you place a better picture of the "fibula"? If it is possible from different angles. I see a lot of background and a little object this way.

In what part of the world did you find these objects? With a metal detector?

Yes metal detector find. Found in slovenia. Will post more pictures from different angles in 3 hours.

That ring can be a lot of other things, but there is a difference in diameter size for few milimeters- ring is not correct shape,not like nowadays mass producted rings. Plus material is bronze so i suspect that its very old. I dont even know if they used ring money here, that is just most similar thing i found on internet

 

It looks like a (cross)bow fibula. I can say more when you have better pictures.

 

Thank you very much. Here you have pics from all angles. Its good to know if it is ancient fibula (even if in bad shape and deformed) or something else. Bronze ring must also bee conected to fibula or at least roman/celtic people.

I am sorry for my late reaction, I was offline for a while.

It is very hard to determine this piece of bronze, because it is too damaged. I tried to compare the shape with the examples form the book "Brooches from the Low Countries", but I could not find any exact match.

That can mean different things:

1. Your object is not a fibula (brooch), but an UMO (Unidentified Metal Object).
2. Your fibula is a regional version of a brooch, that is not found so far in the Low Countries and thus not in my book.
3. I looked over it (the book contains 20.000 brooches).

About your bronze ring. These are very hard to determinate, because they look exact the same from the bronze age to well into the 20th century as they were used mainly in horse harnesses. Only a scientific analysis of the metal itself could say something about age and use.
