I have these two large pottery banks, glossy finish, I cannot find any like them on ebay. They are large. He is wearing bib overalls, got his hands in his pockets, 10" tall, she is about 9" tall. There is no hole to get the money out once it goes in. On the base of him, there are two indentations like they were going to put two holes in the bottom, just didn't, I showed this in the 3rd picture, IMG_20170703_125128 (2).jpg but on her, she is just flat across.(last picture) No 'sections' (my word) like American Bisque. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome! :)
Please go back to edit and use the full image button for all your photos up to 10 per post.
If they won't load make them 480x640.
    Thank you.

Probably a totally extraneous (nonsensical) question but I am curious . . . where is the "coin/paper money" slot located on each?

KingofThings, I was asking about a "slot"/hole to PUT money (bills or coins) IN. ;)

    In...
    Out...
    What DOES it matter?

Ha! I knew that was wrong when I copied it....
But...I paid no attention to my 'little voice'. ;)

I don't see any but it should be high on the back of their heads.
I'm in recovery from looking at that photo taken during the eruption of Mt. St. Helens. ;)

The slots are on top of the heads. Could this be royal Copley?

Welcome Connie! I looked through my Royal Copley and American Bisque (Leeds) books but couldn't find these in either. The problem is that many potteries both in the USA and abroad were making pig banks at the same time. Very few of these banks were marked. I would date yours as produced sometime between the late 1940's and early 1960's.

For some of the banks there was a opening in the bottom to remove the coins and for others you could shake the coins out the slot fairly easily. Or you were expected to break them once they were full.

I'd suppose they are carnival prizes too.

When you want close up shots, take them from a bit further away and then crop. Your closeups are really fuzzy.

I know I have a cheap phone, and don't hardly know how to use the photo program that came with windows 10. I use to use photosuite and loved it, I don't think they make that any more.

On your computer you should be able to open a photo and then got to EDIT.
There you should find a RESIZE option.
Then change the pixels to 480 and it should automatically add 640 for the other
    dimension.
Now the system should accept any photo of this size.
Then load them all, up to 10 per post.
Then mouse click below whatever you have written.
Then hit the FULL IMAGE button and....Voila! :)

King, I had to download a separate "resize" program. My windows 10 photo program does not have a "resize" option!

    From a MS help blog>

    Found this on MS site:
"You can resize the photo to the desired size through Photo Gallery app. Follow the below steps to resize the photos.

1.Open the Start menu, type Photo gallery in the search box and click on Photo Gallery (Desktop app).

2.Accept the agreement to install Window essentials 2012 if prompted (Enter the admin credentials if needed).

3.Now you may open the photo location from the left navigation pane on the photo Gallery app.

4.Select the photo and right click and select Resize."

I am just wondering if these piggy banks were the kind that were meant to be cracked open with a hammer after saving enough money inside.

I wonder how many kids today actually save money in a piggy bank or otherwise to buy things they want.

Mentioned early on and I'd guess that too. :)

Could be they were available made either way.

    That's a great question. :)

I had a spaniel bank that was about 18 inches high. I never put money in it because I didn't want to break it. I had it until about seven years ago when my husband was moving something and dropped it and it hit the bank and broke into a lot of pieces. :( I have all the pieces in a box, but it's chalkware so the chances of fixing it are nil.
