    Hi there,

I have this Vaseline lamp I'm trying to id or date. It is opaque glass, glows green, the cord looks like it is from the 40's or 50's, maybe 60's IMG_20170629_202045.jpg anybody have a clue? thanks so much, Connie

I at first thought these might be Westmoreland, but in searching I now think Houze is a good possibility. I would think 1940s-50s as well. 60s might be pushing it.

These are listed as Houze, notice the way the font is attached to the base just as yours is. I couldn't get to the web site from the images page. Maybe you can. More research is needed to verify.

    Hi Pat,
I have the same lamp in jade. I thought it was Houze. I contacted John Houze and he said it was NOT Houze. I think I remember him saying it was Jefferson Glass and often thought to be Houze.

JMHO - I would never accept an ID off of ebay as gospel until I had confirmed it myself.

    Hi,
If you have a lamp and not sure of it's maker you can always try an expert. For years I thought my lamp was Houze. I contacted Mr Houze about another lamp and he graciously ID it has being made by his family. I then showed him my little lamp and he told me it was not Houze but Jefferson Glass. I see lots of stuff called Fiesta and it is no more Fiesta than a pumpkin. I had one lady tell me her WHITE Fiesta pitcher was her grandmothers from the 1920s. When I told her Fiesta was not made until the late 1930s and there was no white Fiesta until after 1986. She thought I was crazy because she saw the white one on ebay for 950 dollars. You must be sure what you have is really what it is.

    Greg,
I don't know who made either lamp. However, I don't think yours is quite the same as Connie's.

The green has sharper angles, the vaseline is more softly rounded. The vaseline font sits inside the base. The green looks like it is one piece.

They could very well be the same company made at different dates with different but similar molds.

Definitely need more information before the lamp is attributed to one company.

If you want to list it, I would only call it a Vaseline electric lamp.

    Hi Pat,
I guess my eyesight is going faster than I thought.. You are right on my lamp it is one piece, looking at the posters I see with the enlargement it looks like two pieces. I would suggest the owner contact the Houze Museum and ask for ID.
