What are these shoes called ? I recently picked up a bag full of women's shoes from the 40's and 50's. These have no makers name or they did at one time and it's faded away.

    Thanks 024.JPG 014.JPG

Spectator pumps......but since the style is common and pretty timeless (from the 1930s to present) I could not date them.

    Hi,
They were my Moms favorite. She must have had 5 pair. I remember the navy blue and white ones the best. I remember once she had on a red polka dot dress with the spectators and was wearing Emeraude perfume. I was four but I remember that she was beautiful. It was one of the last times that I saw her. Until I was 14 years old. The memories certain things stir up.

I think those are 40s; they're classics. If I could stand up in heels and fit my gunboats into the tiny shoes they wore back then....

Late 40s, early 50s. My mother had a blue pair. She hardly ever dressed up so I always associate these with 'occasions.' She was a fancy stitcher in a shoe factory. She would have been the one stitching the double rows where the back of the shoe meets the sides, the toe and around the top.

These were obviously never worn. The thread on the sole is pristine. Nice find.

Ah, but general thought... Size is everything when sourcing vintage shoes for resale. Most are too small for modern feet and thrift shops usually only carry the narrows in which vintage bulk buyers are uninterested.

    Hi Pearlsnblume,
Do not feel sorry, they are good memories, the bad memories I leave buried.

Def 40's, love them! The 60's versions tend to have a lower heel and without the beautiful curve to them the 40's had. Clunkier looking, not the right word, but have not slept :). Spectators always do well for me, especially any 6.5 and larger. Although, I have been selling 5's all the sudden while my 9's sit, which is weird. A lot of my smaller vintage shoes go overseas, but lately have been selling them in the US. Since I started in 2001, first time I've sold so many tiny ones so may be a good time to list if they are.

Cool, Thanks .. I think they are size 6 1/2 since they measure 9" on the inside. No worries about not sleeping, me either. To much beer and some hard drinks last night, darn friends love hanging out here in the cool..
