My opinion is 1940s-50s reproduction of a classic style (Sheraton?) - but others that know a heck of a lot more than I will be along soon to correct me! It could well be much older...............

On your computer you should be able to open a photo and then go to EDIT.
There you should find a RESIZE option.
Then change the pixels to 480 and it should automatically add a number for the other
    dimension.
Now the system should accept any photo of this size.
Then load them all, up to 10 per post.
Then mouse click below whatever you have written.
Then hit the FULL IMAGE button and....Voila! :)

It is a classic Sheraton style desk. Any provenance? Those small pin dovetails make me think this is either quite old or not American. The overall look, hardware, and color make me think reproduction but I am not 100% sure.

Non of the dovetails look the same, and off center screws. Have no history from previous owners.

It looks like part of it is plywood.

From the secondary "wood", 50s is probably dead on. The fronts are veneered too; a really old one would be solid wood, generally. Nice desk though.

In my opinion it could be old, my reasoning is the timber on the sides of the draws has shrunk across the grain and the finish has gone quite cloudy, I have looked at the bottom of the drawer runner and it's not ply, the dove tails are hand done, I have a 1810 desk with veneer. Can you take some pictures of the back?

It could be heavily repaired or one of those fantasy pieces that didn't start out to fool but did anyway. I'm no furniture expert, not even close, but if I were guessing I'd say it's something from the 1920s.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

With dovetails that thin, how can they possibly be serving any useful purpose?? Not being disrespectful, just was studying the close-up of the drawer.....and how they got them to marry up without splintering to bits is beyond me!!!! I've never seen any so thin!!!!!!! Aside from that, it IS a nice looking desk!!!

Thank you all for the replies. It´s out in my garage at the moment as it smelled heavily of incenses sticks from previous owner. Will take some more photos tomorrow. I own quite a few furniture from early 1900, and this desk just seems very different, and much older. And it's from England by the way :)
