Victoria ironstone transferware with a maker's mark that's in reverse...

it looks like the mark has been reversed, or am I looking at this wrong? would this be an undesirable or more desirable?

 

Hm. That mark is usually seen right way round on modern Chinese repros.

 

you are right but I hadnt seen that exact style or wording with the words: "victoria ware" below the mark. Now I do see one in the lower left of this:

Someone obviously got it a bit wrong this time! It's a nice plate, but that black is too black to have any age.

 

that's an interesting point about the black When I first saw it I was struck by that interesting pattern because it looked so quaint.

 

The pattern is very nice - these repros are well done. The thing is that they use modern inks which are much more dense than 18th and 19th C ones. The glaze is also very very shiny: no sign of unevenness, hm?
