Featured Wooden box with a nice marine depiction.

Last year I bought a wooden box from the internet because I really liked the engravings on it (especially the clouds with the sun).
The guy who sold it hadn't any information about it besides the dimensions of the box (25 x 14 x 15 cm) and that it was wooden.
From the engravings I believe it's Japanese/Chinese and I'm sure I've seen this type of drawing clouds in a cartoon or something similar when I was a child.
Can anyone give any more information about this box?
On each side of the box it has the same depiction as the one on it's back (a house with two pine trees? ) .

It is Chinese, probably carved from sandalwood in southeast China.
This is a miniature version of sandalwood chests used to store clothing. Sandalwood is an insect repellent.
I agree, the sun and clouds are nice. I also like the junk (boat) on the waves. It is not as overly decorated as some of these boxes, and carved with flair.

 

If not for the Chinese carvings I'd have figured it for an old cigar box.
