Hi all, Any information on this piece is much appreciated. I could not find another one. It seems to have a spout, so, should it be called a pitcher or creamer (5 inches tall)? Or is it a mug? There is an imprint by the maker, direction under "Sarah Gamp" but I cannot tell anything about it, other than it looks rectangular. I turned up the contrast in the photo, but afraid it doesn't do any good. It is glazed over the imprint. Many thanks! -Patti
You can find many, many Sarah or Sairie Gamp character jugs out there. I can't tell who made this one. It may have even been a hobbyist ceramic mold.
Thanks, janetpjohn. I guess it could be a hobbyist piece, but it doesn't have that "feel" to it. Also, Mrs. Gamp looks younger on this one than the other ones I can find. I appreciate your help
Sairey Gamp was a Dickens character. Looks like a copy of the one done by Royal Doulton I thought Japan at first until I saw the numbering on the bottom. Hobbiest may be correct.
We went to an estate sale on Saturday and they had four Toby mugs. Two were good and we got them. Two were hobbyist mugs, exactly alike, with the persons name on the bottom. I had no idea they did Toby mugs as hobby pieces until I saw those.
