Japanese Art Pottery Vase

    This very fine little 13cm tall Japanese vase looks like Sumida ware but without the addition of climbing figures.

    it is very clearly marked but despite knowing a fair number of Japanese signatures I can’t make this one out. It won’t be on Gothenburg.

    It’s a long shot but any ideas?

    Might not be Japanese. Some British studio potters use pseudo marks.

    In Chinese that character = Mao
    In Japanese that character = Shigeru

    Could not find the maker. I think this is either Iga-yaki or Bizen-yaki.
