Hi all, i picked up this framed print today, mainly because of the Mandel brothers sticker on the back. I am sure the print is old because of the paper and there is no dot matrix. But it is smooth shiny almost like a photograph? I know that Mandel opened their framing department in 1883. but to me this frame doesn't look that old? Any input would be greatly appreciated

Print out of the frame, obviously trimmed to fit.

The shading (chiaroscuro is the word, I think?) reminds me of 16th- or 17th-century artists such as Rembrandt or Caravaggio. And I'm sure many others. I'm not familiar with the painting that this print is depicting, but maybe somebody will be.

I haven't looked for the picture, but it's Mary, Jesus and John the Baptist.

I think it's of no consequence.

Thanks for the information. I can search for it knowing who it is. I think the print was added at a later date. My interest is more in finding about the frame now. It is their early sticker so maybe ca. 1900?

I knew that! Sorry I didn't mention it.

According to one eBay listing I just found, Mandel Brothers included picture framing in their business as of 1883. I see you included that in your first post. So I'm not sure. It may have to be dated on basis of the frame style?
