IMG_0037.JPG IMG_0038.JPG Gotta get rid of the decoration. The mark looks like "s" in a "G".
    Any clue of the maker?

No clue on the bottle, but I do recognize that technique of decorating it ... bits of torn masking tape 'antiqued' with liquid brown shoe polish (the type with a sponge applicator on top) ... my Brownie troop made something like this decades ago for Father's Day.

    Have you seen this site?
I've found a couple of mystery marks here

Quirky, we did that in Brownies, too!

I somewhat specialize in much older bottles but from years of poking around in long closed landfills, old root cellars, and everywhere in between I would place that in the 50's or 60's.

I did the same thing in the 70s. I'd imagine the bottle was new at the time.

It's gourd shaped. That's all I can add.

I didn't get to join the Brownies, although if mom would have had time I would have been there in the early 70's and probably have gotten to make one of these too! I feel cheated now.... :wideyed:

    Hi,
I had to laugh when I saw the decorated bottle. In the 1970s I had a woman friend who had a small bedroom in her brownstone in Brooklyn. The room was 6Ft wide and 8ft long. I built a wall to wall platform 3 ft high and placed the mattress on top. The bottom was fitted with louvered doors. Since she wanted an Egyptian style room. I papered the walls and ceiling with paper bags torn to blocks about 24" by 12". They were torn and not cut to look like stone blocks. When they were varnished they looked like the paper on the bottle. The woman loved the room.
