Antiques Remembered A masterpiece trying to master peace

[IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] Trying to figure out if these tables are Henredon? 26x26x24H purchased off Craigslist from a man, they were his mothers. She had a lot of valuable antiques. There is a little plaque but it's from the company were she worked, maybe when they closed down she took them. E-Systems Corp. was the company.

Henredon is good at marking their things so I doubt they are theirs. Seems to be nice quality. If from a corporation, probably from one of the contract furniture makers.

I had many pieces of furniture that came from the original Neilsen offices that had metal "labels" attached. I "think" I still have a chair.........somewhere..............someplace...............around here........okay - turned over six chairs, still not finding it..........about twenty chairs to go, so later for THAT project...............

I also got a Japanese bronze urn which has the same label, so I doubt that it's from a contract furniture maker, well unless they made that as well, I know very little about contract furniture. Thanks for your reply.

Companies put their labels on their purchases regardless from where they were procured. An urn from an importer could get the same tag as furniture from an American maker. It just designates that the piece is owned by them. Contract furniture makers provide furniture to corporate specifications. Sometimes this is custom and sometimes off the rack. This is furniture that is not available to the general public and the makers are not well known to most people. The quality is generally very good since it has to stand up the the rigors of public use. It also can be quite expensive in comparison to general home furnishings by most makers. It is also often not marked.

Here is a brief description of contract furniture.....

I've got a smoking stand with very similar "eastern" ornament where the legs join the rest of the piece. It has an ink machine stamp reading "1942" underneath and is made of mahogany veneer with a cedar-lined humidor. It wouldn't surprise me if your table came from the 1940s as well.

The style is a modernized version of a Chinese Chippendale occasional table.

I found the coffee table identical to these two but that person didn't have any info about them either.
