Could this be a tribal artifact from the middle east?

Hi folks anyone got an idea where this item might possibly originate from. Maybe an oriental/tribal belt worn dagger?

Thanks komokwa. I couldn't find any info on the Internet. In Addition - the sheath is filled with wood and, just like the handle, made from a soft metal...I would guess copper(?). As you can see - the blade has oriental type engravements. Total length (in sheath) 46cm (18").

I'd call it a mid-20th. C. Souvenir dagger. It doesn't have a shape I recognize but might as likely be Mid-eastern as Asian. If you look at Stone's book (Glossary of Arms and Armor...)!or web copies of it or parts of it, you will probably see one with that shape which will be identified to a particular country.

To me the decoration doesn't help me with origin; looks like the maker had one or two stamps he used over and over to make little designs. The sheath is sheet brass.

Wow - thanks. Much appreciated. Looks like we're getting somewhere now. What does the "C." (C.Souvenir) stand for?

O.K. - got it (after looking at your Stones's book suggestion) C for Chinese.

    Antony, I believe the "c" was meant to go with the 20th - i.e. 20th c., or
    20th century...

The blade shape looks a little like Spanish inspired knives by 19th century knife maker Samuel Bell.

I keep getting a North African vibe from this one, although it is not like any North African daggers/knives that I know.
The hole in the hilt may have held a small glass or bone cabochon.

Thanks for your feedback. I've Googled some of his knives - and - although the blade is sharp....I'm still tempted to think it's not meant to be a knife as such......
