I picked up this piece at an estate sale. it comes with three pieces. a tray, the "pot" and the lid. all with amazing detail and what looks like a scene from japan. It has no markings on any of the bottom of the pieces. any help will be most appreciated as i am not sure, without a symbol what it could be. 118880090_322318245546949_3346458068219078923_n.jpg 118796445_345630343234387_1620507899010637160_n.jpg

Is the 'pot' large enough to be a tureen?

as you can see, it has no symbols on the bottom, so it is a mystery as to who made it and where it came from.

Looks like modern Chinese dinnerware imitation of Japanese Satsuma.

As you may not know, the base is just as important without marks as it is with marks !
A seasoned collector can tell a lot from a base ...old or younger.....glazed , not glazed.... many things can be revealed to a trained eye !!;);)

Not every pot has the makers name address and phone number !

For me it is the heavy colors. The gold isn't quite right.
The faces have a slight anglicized look, particularly the one on the far left.

There may be other ways of telling.

I've seen these wares before, I believe they originate from Macao or Hong Kong.
Sorry if this is not what you were hoping for.

This is definitely a modern piece. It is not Satsuma. Sorry to disappoint.

Be careful not to use it for food.....it is only to be used for decoration as the clay and glaze can be poisonous.

How do you call it "enamel dots" rather than "moriage?" What criteria, I would love to know the difference.
